Halle Berry suffered an injury while filming her mixed martial arts (MMA) film ‘Bruised.’ This movie marks Berry’s directorial debut.
Brian Pitt, the executive producer of the film, told NJ Advance Media, “Halle got slightly injured in the fight. She’s tired. She needed a break.”
He also stated that it was “nothing serious.” Adding further, “Occasionally what’s going to happen is an actor might get a little injured, and we might adjust scheduling around them a little bit. We’re doing our best to showcase Jersey the best we can.”
Pitt added, “We are in the process of just moving things around for actor availability. We have fighters coming in from around the country, and they get injured in other bouts.”
The production for the film was supposed to start on Monday at Mack’s Elite Heat Boxing Gym. However, due to the 53-year-old getting injured, production has been halted.
Deadline reported back in September that Berry will be directing and starring in the MMA film. The actress will be joined by the producer of John Wick Basil Iwanyk, along with Entertainment 360 and Linda Gottlieb.
She told Entertainment Weekly, “That’s what I’m prepping right now. It’s a movie about a woman who once had a promising MMA career, she was going up the ranks of the UFC (Ultimate Fighting Championship), and then something unthinkable happened that derailed her career, and we find her five years later, and she has to make her way back.”
“It’s a movie I’m extremely passionate about,” Berry also added. “It has a wonderful message. I think it’s a message that women need to hear.”
Halle Berry recently starred in the hit movie John Wick 3: Parabellum, alongside Keanu Reeves.
