The Batman director Matt Reeves has finally released footage of Robert Pattinson as the caped crusader.
Reeves tweeted footage from a camera test on Thursday. The footage showed Robert Pattinson dressed up in a cape and the iconic cowl. His Batsuit also featured a metallic Batman sigil.
Dark and broody music plays in the background of the teaser, while the slow-motion shots of the 33-year-old actor come into focus.
The upcoming Batman movie is a new take on the superhero. Creator Matt Reeves wants to bring a more grounded Batman to the forefront.
Furthermore, Zoe Kravitz will star as Catwoman opposite Robert Pattinson in the film. While Andy Serkis will play Bruce Wayne’s butler, Alfred Pennyworth. The star-studded cast also includes Collin Farrel as Penguin, Paul Dano as The Riddler and Jeffrey Wright as Commissioner Gordon.
Back in October, Robert Pattinson spoke to the New York Times about his role as Batman. He said, “With “Batman,” if I’d done it a few years ago, I would have been incredibly nervous, but I’ve still got a few months before we start shooting. Plenty of time to have a panic attack!”
About the character itself, he revealed, “Batman’s not a hero, though. He’s a complicated character. I don’t think I could ever play a real hero — there’s always got to be something a little bit wrong. I think it’s because one of my eyes is smaller than the other one.”
“I love the director, Matt Reeves, and it’s a dope character,” Pattinson further added. “His morality is a little bit off. He’s not the golden boy, unlike almost every other comic-book character. There is a simplicity to his worldview, but where it sits is strange, which allows you to have more scope with the character.”
The Batman is set to hit theaters on June 25, 2021.
