Christina Perri shared a powerful message with her fans after suffering from a miscarriage.
The 33-year-old singer shared the news on Friday through social media. She began the message by saying, “Today i had a miscarriage. baby was 11 weeks old. we are shocked & completely heartbroken.”
Further adding that she wanted to stop the stigma around miscarriage. She wrote, “We were only 1 week away from sharing the news so i feel like its also important to share this news too (sic). i want to continue to help change the story & stigma around miscarriage, secrecy and shame.”
Christina Perri continued, “I am so sad but not ashamed. i am ever reminded how amazing and powerful women are at making life and at healing. to all the mothers who have been here and who will be here, i see you and i love you. I am so sad but not discouraged. when the time feels right we will try again, but today, we mourn our little life lost”.
Many people and fellow celebrities commented loving messages on Christina Perri’s post.
Taylor Lautner commented, “Sending all the hugs.” While Chelsea Briggs wrote, “I’m so sorry. Thinking about you guys. Sending all my love.”
Singer Andy Grammer complimented Perri by saying, “You are a powerful woman in so many ways.”
The A Thousand Years singer already shares a 2-year-old daughter Carmella with Paul Costabile. Perri and Costabile tied the knot in December 2017. Their daughter was born a year after that in January 2018.
After the birth of her daughter, the Jar of Hearts singer opened up to PEOPLE about dealing with post-partum depression.
She confessed, “That got me the hardest when I stopped breastfeeding around Christmas. I was so sad and so dark. We’re almost made to pretend it’s not happening, like, ‘It’s fine. I’ve got this.’”
