Brad Pitt joined alcohol support group after splitting with Angelina Jolie. Saying, “I had taken thing as far as I could take it”.
The 55-year-old actor talked openly about his struggles with alcohol and drugs in a recent interview. While talking to the New York Times, Brad Pitt revealed that he joined Alcohol Anonymous after divorcing Angelina Jolie.
He revealed, “I had taken things as far as I could take it, so I removed my drinking privileges.”
“You had all these men sitting around being open and honest in a way I have never heard,” Pitt further added. “It was this safe space where there was little judgment, and therefore little judgment of yourself.”
The Fight Club actor also said, “It was actually really freeing just to expose the ugly sides of yourself. There’s great value in that.”
The actor also talked about his father in the interview. Saying he channeled his dad when acting for his upcoming movie Ad Astra.
He said, “I grew up with that be-capable, be-strong, don’t-show-weakness thing. In some ways, I’m copying him. He had grown up in extreme hardship and poverty, always dead set on giving me a better life than he had — and he did it. But he came from that stoic ilk.”
Pitt divorced from 44-year-old Jolie earlier this year.
