Netflix’s Murder Mystery is now the most watched Netflix movie ever: Why?
Murder Mystery tells the story of a couple (played by Jennifer Anniston and Adam Sandler) on a European vacation. They run into an angsty Viscount and find themselves on a vacation yacht. However, what they think is a free fun time turns out to be the center of an intense family drama.
The family head and billionaire disinherits everyone in favor of his new, young, wife. Suddenly, people start dying. Additionally, one by one, all the suspects are killed. Our main couple become the perfect suspects.
However, Adam Sandler’s character is a detective with test anxiety and Jennifer Anniston’s character is an avid mystery reader. The two decide to tackle the mystery themselves, and well… stuff happens.

Critics are not a fan of the new movie. It has only 45% on Rotten Tomatoes, meaning it is “a lightweight comedy that’s content to settle for merely mediocre.” However, the audience score for the movie has not yet been released.
This is comparable to Bird Box, which has 63% on Rotten Tomatoes. Additionally, the review states that the 2018 movie “never quite reaches its intriguing potential, but strong acting and an effectively chilly mood offer intermittently creepy compensation.” The audience score for the movie is 58%.
Netflix’s Murder Mystery has now become Netflix’s most watched movie on the first weekend ever, according to their own assessment.
A tweet from Netflix revealed, “30,869,863 accounts watched Murder Mystery in its first 3 days – the biggest opening weekend ever for a Netflix Film. 13,374,914 accounts in the US and Canada, and 17,494,949 more worldwide.”
One person responded to the tweet, asking, “Please define “watched.” Netflix responded, saying, “For those asking, “watched” here means anyone who watched 70% of the film or more.”
One fan wrote, “Just watched Murder Mystery and Audrey is literally ALL OF US book nerds who think we can solve a murder cause we read a lot.”
Another one wrote, “Adam Sandler has done it again. “Murder Mystery” is just him with a mustache on a yacht surrounded by beautiful women f**king around on Netflix’s dime. Truly incredible stuff.”
Another one wrote on Twitter, “Omg
#MurderMystery is brilliant. It’s like a ridiculous modern Poirot except with Jennifer Aniston and Adam Sandler as a hilarious American couple instead of an elderly Belgian gent. I’m going to need that sequel real soon please [Netflix].”
